The Albany County Historical Society strives to plan, to promote and to sponsor educational programs on historical subjects pertaining to Albany County and to Wyoming. We collect source materials and other historical data pertaining to the early history peculiar to Albany County and nearby areas. Our goal as an organization is to encourage our members and other local residents to do research, author articles and reports and accomplish publication of the same.

 Sept. 14 – Laramie Mural Walking Tour. Tour starts at the Wyoming House for Historic women at the corner of 2nd and Garfield Streets at 5:30.  Sept 18 - Brett Breithaupt and Jack Deibert will discuss the highlights of their 2016 book “Tracks, Trails, and Thieves: The Adventures, Discoveries, and Historic Significance of Ferdinand V. Hayden’s 1868 Geological Survey of Wyoming and Territories.” Most of the expedition’s activities took place in southern Wyoming in conjunction with the building of the transcontinental railroad. The railroad’s construction activities caused Hayden to have serendipitous encounters with legendary army generals, politicians, businessmen, photographers,geologists, and thieves, many of whom significantly changed the course and scope of the survey. Held at Alice Hardie Stevens Center. Social Hour 6:30. Presentation 7:00.
